I have been a fan of Storify every since I was introduced to it at the inaugural Journalism Interactive Conference at the University of Maryland in 2011. It's a simple yet powerful tool for bringing together social media and web links into one presentation then publishing them as a curated, aggregated presentation. I've used it on a number of occasions to document, aggregate and archive live tweets from events, and the presentation possible with Storify adds an extra dimension.
I also use it in the class associated with this blog as a way to introduce students to the idea of story curation.
So it was with great interest that I noticed earlier this week that Storify had been acquired by Livefyre. According to an article on Techcrunch, Storify will continue to be operate as a stand-alone entity, which I was pleased to see.
Before this I had not heard of Livefyre, and the Techcrunch article really didn't explain a lot about the company. It does seem to offer complementary products using social media publishing, and also seems to have some resources available to invest in improving Storify. However, I am hoping Storify doesn't change too much because I like it a lot the way it is currently configured.
