This past Wednesday, many people were confused as to why
they were getting notifications from Twitter. After a shooting near a high
school in Pittsburgh, the social networking site sent out an alert via mobile
device. Twitter users received the update even if they were not subscribed to
the news alert service. People were confused as to why they were receiving the notification.
Many were sending out tweets complaining about the updates.
Even though some people received the alert without being
subscribed to the service, Apple has made it so you can disable the
notifications in your settings if you are using iOS 7. The only way you will
receive push notifications from Twitter is if you have the setting enabled.
Personally, I do not have a problem with getting notifications
about breaking news. I would like to know what is going on in the country if
something big is happening. What do you guys think?
