Twitter Redesign
Twitter has recently been testing out new layouts for user profiles. With the recent changes, the web designers are starting to notice a resemblance in the way the site is being constructed.
What they discovered is that the new profile designs are strikingly similar to that of Facebook. The biography and profile picture are being tested so that they can be scaled to the left side of the page, like in Facebook and the timeline is moving from its popular vertical approach.
While Twitter wants to move away from just an overflow of random public information and news, Facebook wants to be more than just a place for connections, it wants to integrate news and function more like Twitter. Basically, these social media engines are trying to become each other so that they can make one place to accommodate everyone.
Truth is, not everyone works that way. The reason Facebook is slowly falling out of date is because it cannot produce news fast enough, while Twitter can. Twitter may not want to be just news, but that is how they attract their users and it is why they have been so successful. Their users are scrolling down that vertical line to see what can be broadcasted at large.
If the system isn’t broken, why fix it?
