Facebook Experiments With New Video Ads

http://www.forbes.com/sites/jeffbercovici/2014/03/13/facebook-introduces-video-ads-promises-they-wont-be-spammy/

So Facebook wants to put ads in our news feeds.

Apparently, they've been trying to think of a way to implement ads into their site for a long time now without them seeming "spammy".  And now they think they've found a way to do just that.  The ads will reportedly begin playing as soon as they come onto your screen.  They won't have audio, however, and you can click on them to expand them and start them over with audio.

The ads will cost advertising companies around $2 million a day.

As someone who long ago got fed up with advertisements all over the internet and installed AdBlock to get rid of them, I can't say that this will affect me much.  However, it does concern me just how pervasive advertising is now.  Ads are everywhere on the internet, and being forced to sit through an advertisement before you can get to the content you want has irritated me for years.  That's why this new approach of non-intrusive ads that you can simply scroll past seems like a step in the right direction.  You should be able to choose whether or not you want to watch an advertisement, not be forced to sit through one like so many people do on YouTube.  I hope this new idea catches on.  Then maybe I won't need AdBlock anymore.
