In an age where social media is one the most prevalent things in the world, it's important for world leaders to be able to understand and use it effectively. President Barack Obama has proven how effective a tool social media can be for getting in touch with the common people. He's been active on Twitter and Facebook, and has even posted on Reddit. Now he's also joining Quora, a website where you can ask questions and get answers from registered users who have first hand experience with a topic you ask about.

On Quora, Obama will be answering two questions about the Affordable Care Act. This is part of a series of moves he's been making to get more people to sign up for Obamacare before the March 31 deadline. This campaign has included other, equally intriguing moves from Obama, like his aforementioned AMA on Reddit, and his "Healthcare Madness" campaign that tries to attract younger people to get insured.
I think this whole campaign really shows Obama's adaptability to a changing world and his ability to keep up with the times. I haven't heard a lot about how the campaign is going for the president, but I think that the moves he is making are very smart. He knows how valuable social media is in the world and is demonstrating that knowledge with this campaign. He's proven how savvy he is to all sorts of different social media and, in doing so, has garnered support from many different demographics around the country. It's proof that, to some extent at least, he knows what he's doing and that there could be good things on the horizon.
I truly love how Obama is aware that social media is a powerful tool in this day and age. By utilizing this tool he is able to reach so many different audiences, particularly the younger demographic such as myself. I feel he does a great job at keeping up with the changing technology and using it to his advantage.
ReplyDeleteSocial media is allowing politicians to reach out and communicate directly with individuals. It's a great thing and a good way for them to build support through showing how open they are and clearing up questions with policies as Obama is doing. No matter peoples opinions on Obama himself as a person or president, nobody can find fault with this community outreach. It really looks like a step in the right direction and hopefully future presidents and other representatives follow suit.
ReplyDeleteI agree and there is no doubt that Obama is aware of the changing times and also taking steps to stay with them. Adaptability is key. I like to read the Reddit AMAs and it was cool that Obama participated. In an ever-evolving world, especially in means of social media presence, President Obama is doing a great job in utilizing the different tools to obtain the people's perspective as well as rally support.
ReplyDeleteObama's team has really embraced and used social media to his advantage. A chapter of my Advertising book even included a case study of the positive results of his social media campaigns. I believe this shift will be reflected in strategies of the upcoming 2016 election and helps connect the world through making social media more relatable to a larger audience.
