Technology always seizes to amaze me. However, the technological advancement I propose in this blog post is unreal! Recently, there has been a hybrid of old and new technology for charging your smart phone. While you may think that there is no way to charge your device in the middle of wilderness, think again. I would like to introduce the FlameStower.
However, Eva Recinos has found that camping these days is a 'no can do' without the use of technology. Recinos explains the FlameStower as:
"The device is comprised of a USB port, small stand, container for water, and flat end to put over the fire; it uses a thermoelectric process to charge small mobile devices."For every one minute of charge time your smart phone receives from the the FlameStower, you are able to get approximately three minutes of talk time. The FlameStower can also be an aid in multi-tasking. The charger not only can be used to charge various electronic devices, but at the same time can be used as a heat source for cooking.
Andrew Byrnes, a co-founder of FlameStower, says: "We've charged while cooking oatmeal, steaks, bacon, and s'mores." What this tells me is that while camping, you can charge your smart phone, cook dinner, and have a picture of all this happening up on Instagram at the same time. Tell me that isn't multi-tasking. Sounds great to me!
This is probably the coolest camping gear I have ever seen. My Dad and I just finished hiking three mountains in the Adirondacks shortly before the first week of school began. Those four days sleeping in front of a creek with no cell phone reception were absolutely wonderful. I was still able to charge my phone in the truck, but next years trip we will have to backpack in in order to climb the mountains we want to climb. While it is nice to not have anyone bothering you on your hike I still keep it handy to call my Mom and let her know we are off the mountain and out of the woods. This will be a serious consideration of things I add to my climbing equipment!
ReplyDeleteI love this! Not only would it be helpful while camping and in the middle of nowhere, but it would be very useful for when there are power outages! Think of all the people who could benefit from this for both its cooking and charging abilities; it would thrive in the lives of victims of natural disasters.
