Nikon Announces DSLR with Online Capabilities

It's no secret that the digital camera industry has seen a sharp decrease in sales over the past several years.  This, of course, is mainly a result of the increasingly sufficient aptitude of smartphones to capture pictures- that, combined with the ability to share those pictures to a massive audience at the click of a button, has posed serious problems for companies like Nikon.

However, Nikon may have found the answer to the aforementioned problem that has plagued their industry for years: they announced this week that their new DSLR camera will include online capabilities- thus allowing users to send photos to their smartphones and post their DSLR quality photos onto social media enterprises like Instagram.  The D5300 will also include a built-in GPS, making geotagging photos possible.

This may turn out to be a groundbreaking move for Nikon.  When I use my smartphone, I don't feel like I'm quite able to capture a picture that truly encapsulates the moment; it just never turns out as I envision it too look.  This leads to me sharing less pictures because I don't have faith in my phone's camera.  Even the photos that I took with my phone at the Pittsburgh Pirates playoff game were not worthy to post on Instagram (and believe me, I really wanted people to know that I was there!).

The D5300 is worth taking a second look at- from what I gather, it would be a good purchase for anyone who is into capturing photos and sharing their experiences with others.  In fact, I may have just found an (expensive) birthday gift.
